					NEURODIVERSITY, my understanding of it

Neurodiversity as a different way of functioning of the brain
originated from the autistic community then opened up to other neurological differences like adhd and dys-(lexia,calculia,etc.)
now conversation about including neurodivergencies that are not present since birth like PTSD, certain personality disorders like BPD and NPD, OCD but also certain physical illnesses that affect the brain
There isn't one definition of what neurodivergency is and/or includes that everyone agrees with

From my point of view, it doesn't require to be born with the neurodivergency but I don't believe mental illnesses like depression that can be treated and are temporary are neurodivergencies because neurodivergency has something long lasting in my point of view

In that aspect, I personally relate neurodivergency and my identity as such as trying to accommodate to my needs and differences instead of trying to change myself.
During class some analogies were made that made me feel like this was a choice which frustrated me because it isn't, I have to find ways to find accommodations because I cannot change not because I'm enjoying being different.

I definitely think these different thought patterns and approaches can be enriching but denying the struggles and difficulties that come with it is not helpful.

I’m still working on this project and probably will be for a while. It is a booklet based on the fairy tale of Rapunzel which is about a princess who’s locked in a tower. The story I’m writing/drawing is how she leaves her tower and discovers society and it’s norms. She’s going to find a town and eventually work for a seamster and get to meet the inhabitants through their clothes.
